As is often the case at the Oscars it was diamonds that ruled the red carpet as stars sparkled wearing them from all the top jewelry designers. The overall look of the evening was elegant and tasteful with a balance of earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Color was at a minimum.
Scarlett Johansson, double nominee for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, wore $2.5 million worth of diamond jewelry that included exceptional Pear Diamond Drop Earrings set in 18k white gold (26.65 carats), and a Diamond Bracelet set in 18k white gold with 29.15 carats.

Director Greta Gerwig, nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay, wore more than 96 carats of emeralds and diamonds jewels including a necklace in platinum with seven emerald beads (56.13 carats), 14 pear diamonds (7.18 carats), and 32 round diamonds and pavé-set diamonds (18.66 carats); earrings in white gold with two cushion diamonds (4.02 carats), 32 step cut diamonds (0.99 carats), and pavé-set diamonds (0.31 carats); and a platinum ring with one cushion-cut diamond (6.51 carats), 46 buff-top emeralds (2.08 carats) and 16 fancy step-cut diamonds (0.54 carats).

Idina Menzel, who performed “Into the Unknown,” a nominee for Original Song, walked the Oscars red carpet wearing a Harry Winston Cascading Diamond Necklace (60.30 carats) Pirouette Diamond Earrings (4.44 carats), and a Cluster Diamond Ring (3.92 carats), all set in platinum.

Margot Robbie accessorized her Chanel black strapless dress with a pearl and lapis brooch with a pearl tassel. She completed her look with a yellow gold, diamond and pearl Chanel ring.
